Google Pixel Watch 2: what we know so far

According to the report, the update to the beta version of the Google Search app has revealed the presence of two new devices that would be supported in a future stable version of the app. These two devices appear to come with internal codenames Eos and Aurora, which would integrate Google Assistant voice support and Google Search support directly from within the smartwatch.

While it is not entirely clear as to why could these two codenames not allude to a different product, reports suggest that these are two variants of the same device — owing to the similarity of the codenames. With the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro in advanced engineering and production stages, it is likely that the same refers to the Google Pixel Watch 2 smartwatch, which could have two variants — one with cellular connectivity (most likely through eSIM), GPS and Wi-Fi, and the other only with GPS and Wi-Fi.

As of now, not a lot has been revealed online about the upcoming smartwatch. Reports have claimed that the Google Pixel Watch 2 is expected to move away from the Samsung Exynos chip seen inside the first-gen Pixel Watch, and instead use a 4nm Snapdragon W5+ chip inside. The chip is said to help Google solve the issue of low battery life that plagued its first Pixel-branded smartwatch.

In terms of design, the smartwatch is expected to remain similar to its predecessor, and other details are also expected to remain the same.
