Google Pixel 8: Google Pixel 8 Pro might ditch the curved display, Pixel 8 could be smaller – Times of India

Even though the Pixel 8 series is months away from being introduced, rumours are shaping up what Google‘s upcoming phones could be like. After the details about the Tensor G3, the alleged chip that will power the Pixel 8 series, and the Pixel 8 series’ camera specifications, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro display specifications have surfaced, suggesting some significant changes to the Pixel series.
As per a report from Android Authority, the Pixel 8 will have a 6.1-inch display, a little small compared to the 6.3-inch display on the Pixel 7. While a tad smaller, the Pixel 8 will have a higher refresh rate of 120Hz and will be much brighter at a peak of 1400 nits. For context, the Pixel 7 has a 90Hz refresh rate and offers a peak brightness of 1000 nits. Though, the resolution still remains 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD).
Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro will reportedly have a 6.7-inch display, which is not a major change compared to the 6.71-inch display on the Pixel 7 Pro. However, the significant difference is that Pixel 8 Pro will ditch the curved edges for flat edges, similar to how it is on the Pixel 7 and how the Pixel 8 will be.
The 6.7-inch display on the Pixel 8 Pro will have a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits.
Apart from this, the refresh rate of display on the Pro model can go as low as 5Hz, and 10Hz on the vanilla model, compared to 30Hz on the Pixel 7 models.
Further, the two smartphones – Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro – are expected to feature OLED displays with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Rumours are that the Pixel 8 will use panels from Samsung and BOE, while the Pro model would have a Samsung panel.
