The Google Photos app on Android and iOS has got a new update. Now, users will be able to delete photos and videos in albums directly which was not possible earlier through the mobile app though the web version of the cloud-based data storage service had it. So, with the new update to the app, users can delete the media directly through the albums. The important thing to note here is that in Android, this feature only works with private albums and not shared ones.
Users can delete the media inside albums by choosing the ‘Move to trash’ option which was earlier not there. Before this update, you could only remove the media from the album and then, to delete it from the saved media, you had to search and find it from the main feed which was time-consuming and could get frustrating. And for shared albums in Android, the process still remains the same whereas the iOS version of the app allows users to send the photos stored in a shared album directly to the trash. So iOS has it and Android doesn’t. Google shouldn’t ignore its own platform when it comes to updating its own app. It remains to be seen when the tech giant will make the Photos app on both Android and iOS equal. As for now, the much-needed addition is welcome to the Photos app on Android.
