0

Google Docs is one of the most important services of Google Workspace and to make the user experience better, Google keeps adding new features every now and then. Right now, the tech giant has started rolling out a new update for tables in Docs. Google Docs have always had the option to create tables in order to make users present content for easy reading. Google is making things better in regards to handling tables in Docs.
Table in Google Docs is getting better
Google has announced the new update for tables in Docs via an official blog post. According to the blog post, tables in Google Docs are getting some improvements related to the positioning of the table within the documents in the format of the page.
The company says it brings more flexibility and control over the layout of text with tables in Docs that lets users do the following things:

  • Drag tables in a document and place them directly where you want
  • Wrap content around a table on a page. The wrap direction (left, right, both sides) and margin from the surrounding text can be specified
  • Set a fixed position for a table on a page
  • Provide quick layouts to instantly move a table to a preset position on a page

Apart from that, Google has also improved the import/export of Microsoft Word documents with tables. This means the documents will remain consistent while importing or exporting.
Rollout details
To be able to use this feature, users won’t need admin permission. This means that the feature will be available to workspace users and there is no admin control for this feature.
The feature is in Rapid release, but it’s happening gradually. The feature will start reflecting to all users within 15 days starting June 14. The full rollout of the new feature is set to happen by June 27.
The new feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts.
