Google: Here’s how Google is planning to introduce AI into its main business – Times of India
Citing an internal presentation, The Financial Times (via news agency Reuters) reported that Google plans to introduce AI into the ad business over the coming months to create “novel” advertisements.
Generative AI technology relies on past data to create content such as texts, photos and videos. Google is purportedly looking at creating ads with this technology as advertisements are a combination of images, texts and videos.
AI-generated Google ads
According to the presentation, advertisers can supply “creative” content such as imagery, video and text relating to a particular ad campaign. The AI will then use the provided material to generate ads based on the target audience, along with sales targets, the report said.
In order to address AI-related concerns, like disinformation, phishing attempts and cybercrime, Google plans to put in guardrails when it rolls out the new generative AI features.
It is to be noted that the working of Google Bard is also restricted behind guardrails.
Last month, Sissie Hsiao, a Google vice president who oversees Bard, said that the chatbot is an “early experiment” and the company wants Bard to “output things that are aligned to human values.”
“We feel really good that Bard is being safe and actually people are finding those guardrails,” The Wall Street Journal quoted Hsiao as saying.
Microsoft AI advertising
Citing an ad executive, a report said that Microsoft is already testing ads in its early version of the Bing chatbot.
Microsoft, which has become Google’s direct competitor in the AI space, reportedly showed off a demo of the new Bing saying it plans to allow paid links within responses to search results.
The company is said to be taking traditional search ads, “in which brands pay to have their websites or products appear on search results for keywords related to their business, and inserting them into responses generated by the Bing chatbot,” the ad executive reportedly said.
