google: Google Meet to remove users automatically from empty calls – Times of India

Google will soon release a new update for Workspace users where it will allow them to avoid certain situations. The tech giant has introduced two new improvements to Google Meet. Firstly, users will now get the ability to exit meetings when they are the only user left along with a centralised host management location. It can be annoying for users to be in an empty digital space by being the only person left in a Google Meet room.
These upcoming features will be added to all Workspace, G Suite Basic and Business along with personal Google accounts starting April 11. However, it may take up to 15 days before these changes reflect for all users.
The first update gives users a notification asking if they want to stay or leave when they are the only person left in a meeting for five minutes. Users will be booted from the meeting if they don’t respond after two minutes.
The second improvement has taken the host and co-host controls and has moved all the options to one place under the “Host controls” menu, which was previously scattered around. This will offer hosts and co-hosts of Google Meet meetings a more intuitive experience.
Google has claimed that this improvement will make it easier for users to manage the meeting settings. It won’t be necessary for users to browse between settings menus anymore. This improvement is expected to make leading and attending meetings much more efficient as it will provide users with the ability to easily share screens and join — or leave — meetings at the right time.
