google: Google has a warning for these Chrome users – Times of India
Google in its latest blog post have published 25 new alarming vulnerabilities discovered during the last couple of weeks. Among 25 listed vulnerabilities, seven are rated as ‘High’ risk, while 18 are rated as ‘Medium’ risk level and the remaining pose ‘Low’ threat level.
These threats affect Chrome across all the platforms including Windows, macOS and Linux.
Here are the list of high-level vulnerabilities listed by Google in its official blog post:
High CVE-2021-38008: Use after free in media.
High CVE-2021-38009: Inappropriate implementation in cache
High CVE-2021-38006: Use after free in storage foundation.
High CVE-2021-38007: Type Confusion in V8.
High CVE-2021-38005: Use after free in loader.
High CVE-2021-38010: Inappropriate implementation in service workers.
High CVE-2021-38011: Use after free in storage foundation.
Google is currently restricting the details related to these vulnerabilities. However, if you are worried about something going wrong, Google has released a fix for that in the form of Chrome 96 update.
Users can simply update their Chrome web browser with the latest version 96.0.4664.45 to fix these issues with the web browser. But it is important to note that the update will be rolled out in a phased manner and might take days or weeks.
For those who are wondering whether they should update their web browser just to fix some security flaws, Chrome 96 also brings a couple of minor improvements like backwards-forward cache, improved PWA support and more.
