Soon after she apologised for her tweet that made her the target of trolling, Richa Chadha now faces the ire of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) that labelled her tweet as “most irresponsible”. The film body has condemned Richa’s tweet and also called for “film entities” to condemn the same. (Also read: Anupam Kher reacts to Richa Chadha’s ‘shameful’ Galwan tweet)

In the statement, FWICE also labelled the tweet as “the most irresponsible statement” and said it abused and disrespected the soldiers “who have laid down their lives at Galwan”.

FWICE also demanded an immediate and unconditional apology from the Fukrey star. “In view of the above, we demand an immediate unconditional apology from the actress Richa Chadha. We also appeal to all the entities of the film industry to come forward and condemn her act which has not only hurt the sentiments of the Army personnel but also that of every Indian and seek legal action against her,” the statement said.

FWICE also appealed to the state government of Maharashtra as well as police authorities to take “due cognizanze” of the statement and “initiate necessary action against Richa.

Earlier this week, Richa had quote-tweeted a post that mentioned Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi’s statement claiming that the Indian Army is ready to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, if ordered to do so. Sharing the statement, Richa took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “Galwan says hi.”

Richa had shared her apology on Twitter soon after trolls swarmed her Twiter timeline. “Even though it can never be my intention in the least if the 3 words which are being dragged into a controversy have offended or hurt anyone, I apologise and also say that it would sadden me if even unintentionally my words have triggered this feeling in my brothers in the Fauj of which my own Nanaji has been an illustrious part. As a Lt. Col, he took a bullet in the leg in the Indo-China war, in the 1960s. My Mamaji was a paratrooper. It’s in my blood,” she wrote in her apology note.

She added, “A whole family is affected when their son is martyred or even injured while saving the nation which is made up of people like us and I personally know how it feels. It is an emotive issue for me.”

Soon after her apology, Ashoke Pandit filed a police complaint against Richa for her “anti-national” comment. He also told ANI that he appealed to the police that an FIR should be filed against her. Akshay Kumar also shared Richa’s tweet and wrote that he was “hurt”.
