Still, Neeraj isn’t complaining. He is happy with his show at Eugene but determined to change the colour of the medal next time around.
Excerpts from his virtual interaction:
A gold eluded you…
The hunger for gold will continue in me. But I have to believe we cannot get gold each time. I will do what is in my control…focus and concentrate on my training. While the conditions weren’t good and the wind speed was too high, I was confident I would perform well. I am satisfied with the result. I will look to win the gold in Diamond Leagues and, of course, the World Championships.
Were you under pressure after your first three attempts?
I didn’t feel pressured by the fact that I am an Olympic champion. I believed in myself even after the third throw. I made a comeback and won silver, it felt good.

You had strapping on your thigh…Any injury concern heading to the CWG?
I thought even the fourth throw could have gone farther. After that, I felt something on my thigh and could not do my best in the next two. I will know the status tomorrow morning because my body is still warm after the event. I hope there should not be any injury issues for the CWG.

Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan (who finished fifth) performed fairly well…Did two of you speak after the final?
I spoke to him after the event and told him that he performed really well. He said ‘I had a problem with my elbow’. He was not doing well in the beginning, so when we finished, I told him he did a fine job and made a good comeback.
