Finding the future of care provision: The role of smart hospitalsBy Dr Raja Dutta

A novel connected health model such as smart hospitals is all set to carve a niche for itself in this ever-evolving ecosystem. Connected Health, an overarching model that includes all aspects of technology and categories such as mobile health apps for patients as well doctors, health information technology (IT), AI, ML, blockchain, data cloud, wearable devices, telehealth and telemedicine, HIMS, robotic surgery, genomic sequencing, medical IOT devices, nanotechnology etc. mirrors a distinct balance of technology use for information sharing and connectedness with proactive care and integrated healthcare services. Moreover, it has opened up a new vista in healthcare by digitally connecting clinicians to clinicians, patients to clinicians and patients to other patients while improving patient centric care and life quality.

Smart hospitals are a breakthrough in the healthcare industry that heavily utilises cutting-edge technologies to enhance patient care and experience while lowering expenses. The modern industries are being profoundly affected by technological digitalisation and automation, with healthcare not being an exception. On the supply chain side of things, a whole new variety of technologies, such as telemedicine, genomics, augmented/virtual reality, 3-D printing, precision medicine, robots, and artificial intelligence, can be effectively incorporated into healthcare delivery.

Avisa Smart Hospitals is establishing chain of smart hospital across India with vision of bringing positive transformation in healthcare sector. Smart hospitals are the future of healthcare provision which would help leverage technologies and new innovative models for patient-centric care.

Adoption of innovation in healthcare

The adoption of technological advancements is motivated by both short and long-term objectives, including cost reduction and improved precision. Regarding the demand side of things, new technologies fulfill a lot of changed patients’ expectations. Today, a growing number of patients want that healthcare services be provided in settings that are cosy, easy, and part of the new normal with increased precision and efficiency. As a result, the entire model of healthcare delivery is changing, and this shift will pick up speed in the coming years.

Redefining healthcare

Traditional healthcare facilities are attempting to redefine themselves in light of this. Healthcare centres are being modified and redesigned in many cities across the world to incorporate more smart features and take full advantage of the technological breakthroughs. Within a “smart health ecosystem,” these technologies are used to enhance the delivery of healthcare. In order to tackle upcoming problems, the majority of hospitals are only now beginning to utilise technologies and scientific advancements in healthcare delivery. The move to smart hospitals around the world is encouraged by some developments that are reshaping the healthcare industry. These include a change in emphasis from the treatment of diseases to the management of health, which includes wellness, preventive care, rehabilitation, and healthy living.

The imperatives of healthcare providers

The requirements and effects for hospital owners and investors are obvious. In fact, the greenfield hospitals are being constructed using an innovative and futuristic design that enables hospitals to remain current and adaptable for the next two to three decades. The hospitals that already exist must change; staying the same is not an option. It’s important to phase in technological developments, revamping the way treatment is provided, and re-evaluating interactions with other healthcare professionals to maximise efficiency.
