Patna: Additional chief secretary (health) Pratyaya Amrit said the state government has launched several initiatives for improving the healthcare facilities in hospitals and medical colleges.
Speaking at a function after inaugurating the Fibroscan machine at a private health facility near Bihta on Thursday, Amrit said it helps in diagnosing liver ailments. It can also be used in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, fluoroscopy, endoscopy and other medical processes. He said the government has planned to establish a medical college in each district for widening the scope of medical education and public healthcare.
Dr Sanjeev Kumar, head of the cardiothoracic department at AIIMS-P, said Fibroscan is an important technique to examine the liver problems within five minutes without any pain to patients. It is also helpful in getting the status of liver before and after the treatment.
Director of the hospital, Dr Krishna Murari Singh, said earlier biopsy was the only way to confirm liver diseases in the intestinal region but now this new instrument would make the task easy.
