Farhan Akhtar edits pic to appear with great-grandfather Muztar Khairabadi, Shibani Dandekar calls them ‘twins’

Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar edited a picture to feature himself with his great-grandfather Muztar Khairabadi. Taking to Instagram, Farhan posted a photo in which his great-grandfather sat on a chair wearing ethnic wear. He also had a hat, a sword and glasses. In the monochrome photo, Farhan stood next to him and rested his hand on the back of the chair. He wore a jacket and paired it with black pants. Sharing the photo, he wrote, “My family thinks I look like my great-grandfather, Muztar Khairabadi.. what do you think?”

Reacting to the post, Farhan’s wife Shibani Dandekar wrote, “Twins (fire and red heart emojis).” Anusha Dandekar also commented, “Twins!!! (surprise and heart eyes emojis).” Ronit Bose wrote, “100 %” Shonali Bose’s comment read, “Amazing likeness. How lovely Fa.”

Fans were also left surprised by the resemblance between the two. A person commented, “Well yes a lot of similarities.” Another fan said, “Oooh yes doppelganger.” “Thought it was a film poster,” wrote a fan. “The resemblance is definitely uncanny,” said an Instagram user. “Are you a time traveller by any chance?” asked a person. “@jackkybhagnani resembles more like your great grandfather @faroutakhtar ….” said a fan.

Muztar Khairabadi’s real name was Ifthikar Hussain. He was a poet, philosopher, religious scholar, writer and also a freedom fighter. His son is poet-lyricist Jan Nisar Akhtar and his grandsons are Javed Akhtar and Salman Akhtar. Muztar wrote poetry books and also published a magazine, Karishama-e-Dilbar. His works include–Nazr-e-Khuda, a poetry collection Meelaad-e-Mustafa, a poem Marg-e-Ghalat ki Fariyad among others.

Farhan recently made his international debut with Ms Marvel, a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) web series. It introduces Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, aka the titular character, who is a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. In Ms Marvel, Farhan essays the role of Waleed, a senior member of an organisation called Red Dagger. He acts as a mentor to Kamala when she lands in Karachi to meet her maternal grandmother and uncover the mystery behind her superpowers.
