Expect bank stocks to lead this earnings season: Rahul Shah

“I think things are going to remain better off from here as I feel we have seen the worst for a lot of stocks. My sense is we saw the financials reporting their number for a couple of them.,I think has a decent set of numbers,” says Rahul Shah, Senior Executive,

Where do you expect positive and negative surprises this result season?

I think the negative factors have been absorbed in the markets. In the near term, 15,700-15,800 looks like the near term is behind us. I think now whatever is going to come is going to be better off.

I think there is broader base participation in the markets – be it financials, short covering in IT pack or telecom or so on. I do not think there will be any negative surprises, we have seen the negative surprises from the IT pack, and it has already been factored in as the street estimated it, the only negative surprise in the large cap names.

If we look at others, they have been beaten much more than what the Street was expecting. So, look at

numbers. Those are strong numbers with volume growth and people were worrying about the margins and about what is going to happen in the next couple of quarters or so.

I think things are going to remain better off from here as I feel we have seen the worst for a lot of stocks. We saw a couple of financials reporting their number. HDFC has a decent set of numbers.
