ETMarkets Investors’ Guide: Q1 atypical quarter for earnings; look beyond it: Satish Ramanathan, JM Financial AMC | The Economic Times Podcast

0
Welcome to ETMarkets’ Investors Guide, a show about asset classes, market trends, and investment opportunities. This is Nikhil Agarwal.

Earnings season is here. Following bellwether TCS’ quarterly earnings on Friday, a handful of big corporations would disclose their quarterly results over the next couple of days. Investors are concerned over likely downgrades in earnings. They are unsure whether the recent correction in the market has factored in a sharp surge in input cost, a likely drop in margin and demand slowdown for corporate, if any.

ETMarkets caught up with Satish Ramanathan, CIO – Equity, JM Financial Asset Management Company, to know his broader expectations from the earnings season and his piece of advice for investors.

Listen in!

1)What are your broader expectations from the Q1 earnings season?
2) Which are the sectors that you see driving Nifty50 earnings growth this quarter?
3) Name a few sectors where earnings downgrades are imminent and risk-reward looks unfavourable.
4) At what levels would you find Nifty50 attractively valued? Do you think it is a good time to accumulate stocks?
5) What would be your advice to investors? How should they read Q1 earnings?

Thank you Mr Ramanathan for the insights.
