Elon Musk’s Twitter to roll out this ‘premium’ feature to everyone – Times of India
After announcing the monetisation of ‘blue ticks’ Twitter’s new boss Elon Musk is all set to make another important change. Twitter will reportedly witness another big product change under Elon Musk soon. According to a report by Bloomberg, the social networking platform may soon enable the edit button for every Twitter user. The report also adds that the edit tweet option will be made available for all the users starting November 7.
Twitter started testing the feature in September and last month the company started rolling out the edit tweet option for Twitter Blue users in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the US. If this is true, then this will be the second biggest change on the platform after the overhaul in the Twitter Blue subscription.
The edit button will allow users to fix typos, add missed tags, and more. Users will be allowed to edit the tweets a few times in a 30-minute time frame after they are published. Twitter also says that it will be paying close attention to how the feature impacts the way people read, write, and engage with tweets.
Tweets will appear with an icon, timestamp, and label so it’s clear to readers that the original Tweet has been modified. Tapping the label will take viewers to the tweet’s Edit History, which includes past versions of the Tweet.
You will now have to pay for blue ticks on Twitter
Elon Musk has announced that those who want to get a verified account will have to shell out $8 per month. In a thread of tweets, Musk also listed the perks that will be offered to those with the blue check mark.
He also said that the price of the subscription will be “adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity” hinting at a possible global launch of Twitter Blue. Apart from the “blue tick”, those who subscribe to ‘Blue for $8 per month’ will also get “priority in replies, mentions and search – which is essential to defeat spam/scam, ability to post long video and audio, and half as many ads.”
