Elon musk twitter: Elon Musk explains the real reasons of him buying Twitter | – Times of India

0
A few hours after posting a video showing him strolling into Twitter headquarters with a ‘sink’ and changing his Twitter bio, billionaire Elon Musk has tweeted a message addressing ‘Twitter Advertisers’ that he is acquiring the microblogging platform because he wants “to help humanity.” The SpaceX and Tesla chief also says that he wants to give future civilisation “a common digital town square” for healthy debate and right advertising.
Refuted the idea of buying Twitter “to make more money” Musk said, “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide Age of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence. There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.”
He also took potshots at traditional media by saying that they relentlessly pursue clicks and have “fueled and catered to those polarised extremes” eventually losing opportunity for dialogue.

Elon Musk on Twitter advertising
Rumours suggest since Musk will give a free hand to all types of commentary, the platform could become a place of extremist views. This could lead to advertisers to leave the platform eventually leaving the company in a shambles. Musk addressed the issue by saying that “Twitter cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences” and that the platform must adhere to the laws of the land as well as “warm and welcoming to all.”
On advertising, Musk said that Twitter aspires to be the most respected advertising platform in the world.
“I also very much believe that advertising, when done right, can delight, entertain and inform you; it can show you a service or product or medical treatment that you never knew existed, but is right for you. For this to be true, it is essential to show Twitter users advertising that is as relevant as possible to their needs. Low relevancy ads are spam, but highly relevant ads are actually content!,” the executive said.
This is the same reason which Musk gave when he launched a bid to the company earlier this year. The CEO has a Friday deadline to close his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter.
