Ed has opened up about the difficult time he faced when his wife, Cherry Seaborn, was diagnosed with a tumor during her sixth month of pregnancy. The singer, who had already been dealing with the deaths of several close friends, revealed that he felt helpless when he heard the news. He said, “There’s nothing you can do about it. You feel so powerless.”
According to a Rolling Stone cover story, Cherry was diagnosed with a tumor while six months pregnant with their daughter Jupiter. The couple was initially told that the tumor was inoperable until after she delivered, leaving them to discuss the possibility of welcoming their baby girl early. In the end, she carried the pregnancy to term and underwent a successful surgery after Jupiter’s birth. Sheeran, who was performing at London’s Wembley Stadium, received the news of the ‘successful surgery’ just hours after his daughter’s arrival.
In March of 2022, Ed made a candid admission, stating that he had experienced feelings of not wanting to live anymore and stated, “And I have had that throughout my life.… You’re under the waves drowning. You’re just sort of in this thing. And you can’t get out of it.”
Ed’s breakthrough came in 2011 with the release of his debut album +. The album was a commercial and critical success, featuring hit singles such as The A Team and Lego House. He followed up with his second album x in 2014, which featured the chart-topping singles Sing and Thinking Out Loud.
