DMRC Allows Metro Ticket Booking online to avoid queues: How to book Metro Tickets using WhatsApp on your Mobile – Smartprix

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recently announced a paper ticket booking service under which using the given QR Code, one could scan and start their metro journey. Today, DMRC has started a new way of Metro Ticket Booking in which you don’t have to go anywhere to get a metro ticket. All you have to do on reaching the metro station is use WhatsApp on your phone to book a ticket.

This new service by Metro is not available for all the Metro lines in Delhi-NCR. It has started only for Airport Express Line as of now and will soon be expanded to other lines based on the response it gets.

The service to book metro tickets via WhatsApp was launched by MD Dr. Vikas Kumar who also revealed that tickets can be booked via WhatsApp chatbot for Delhi Metro’s orange line as of now. DMRC has also announced a WhatsApp Number that you can save on your mobile and then book tickets via WhatsApp. Let us have a look at how this can be done.

How to Book Metro Tickets via WhatsApp

  • Save the number 9650855800 on your smartphone.
  • Open the chat window of this number on WhatsApp and write ‘Hi’.
  • You will get an Automated Message to choose a language between Hindi and English.
  • Next, you will get another automated message wherein choose the ‘Book Ticket’ option.
  • Now it will ask you to choose the station to start your journey. Although it is available only for select stations as of now, this will increase in the future. The stations currently available are- Shivaji Stadium, New Delhi, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Aerocity, IGI Airport, and Dwarka Sector 21. Choose one out of these.
  • Then choose the final stop of your journey among the above-mentioned stations.
  • Choose the number of tickets you want to book- 1, 2, or more.
  • Automated Message will display all your details now. Confirm or Edit them.
  • After you confirm your details, an auto message will ask you the mode of payment for your tickets. The minute you choose the mode of payment, your ticket will be booked.

DMRC is the 6th Metro Service in India that has started booking tickets via WhatsApp. Earlier Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai Metros had started this service.
