DJI Osmo Mobile 6 smartphone gimbal comes with 3-axis stabilisation, new status panel and side wheel – Times of India
DJI has announced the next iteration of its smartphone gimbal – Osmo Mobile 6 – with improved design and 3-axis stabilisation. It is very similar to its predecessor having the same foldable form factor but has wheel control for easier zooming and focusing, with a status panel showing the gimbal’s battery level.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 6 has three powerful motors, which, combined with DJI’s algorithms, keep the smartphone steady while shooting videos. Similar to the OM 5, the Osmo Mobile 6 has a built-in extension rod, enabling users to try out different positions of recording. The handle has been redesigned, and the clamp can hold larger phones. It weighs 309g and comes with a 1000mAh battery.
With the new gimbal, DJI has introduced a new feature – Quick Launch – for iPhones. The Osmo Mobile 6 powers on as unfolded, and the moment you snap your iPhone, the Mimo app, sends a notification to enter the camera view.
The Osmo Mobile 6 uses the new ActiveTrack 5.0, which was recently seen on DJI’s Mavic 3 drone.
The new status panel replaces the LED lights found on the older iterations. You can check the battery level and system status indicator on the status panel and even switch between gimbal modes. Pressing the M button allows users to switch between the four modes — Follow, Tilt Locked, FPV and SpinShot.
The side wheel lets you adjust the focal length, zoom in and out, and you can switch to the manual focus by pressing the side wheel once.
DJI’s Osmo Mobile 6 comes at $159 (around Rs 12,890) and is available to purchase in the US.
