‘Destiny had this written for MS Dhoni’: Hardik Pandya on CSK winning IPL 2023 | Cricket News – Times of India

Gujarat Titans have been the team to beat since their title-winning IPL debut last season, and they played the same brand of fearless cricket in the 2023 edition before being stopped in their title defence by MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings on Monday.
CSK beat Hardik Pandya‘s GT in the final to win a record-equalling fifth title.

Ravindra Jadeja provided a grandstand finish, hitting a six and a four with 10 needed off the last two balls, to stun Gujarat Titans as CSK won by five wickets (DLS method) in a rain-curtailed thriller at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
CSK chased down the revised target of 171 in 15 overs, after rain stopped play in the first over of their run-chase, following GT’s 214/4.

After the match, Pandya said that it was Dhoni’s destiny to win the title and that he didn’t mind losing to someone who has been his mentor.
“I’m very happy for him. Destiny had this written for him. If I had to lose, I don’t mind losing to him. Good things happen to good people,” said Pandya.

Pandya said that they leave the field with their head helds high for the effort they had put in over the last two months.
“I think we tick a lot of boxes and we play with our heart. We’ve always been a team that has stood together and no one gave up. We win together and we lose together. Maybe one of those games today,” he said. “I mean, I’m not one of those guys who makes excuses.”
