Deepika Padukone asks couples to learn from older generation about marriage: ‘Patience is number one’

Deepika Padukone recently talked about marriage and her thoughts about the institution based on her observations of others. She is married to actor Ranveer Singh since 2018 and together they make one of the most popular couples in Bollywood. Sharing tips for married life, Deepika asserted the importance of patience in relationships and said that couples could learn from their previous generations. Deepika dated Ranveer Singh for six years. The couple is quite affectionate with one another in public. They tied the knot on November 14, 2018 at Italy’s Lake Como. They also starred together in films like Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, 83 and Finding Fanny.

Sharing tips from her married life, Deepika told Time magazine, “I think we all grow up being influenced by movies, or we grow up being influenced by relationships and the marriages around us. But I think, the sooner you accept that the journey that we are on or that the two people are on is going to be very different from someone else’s journey, the better it is.”

“Having said that, I think not just my parents but that entire generation, I think patience is probably one of the main things that I feel like couples today — I sound like some love guru (smiles) — but I feel like there’s a lack of patience and I think that that’s something that we can all learn from, not just Ranveer and I from our parents but I think more couples like us can learn from the generation before us. Lots of other things but patience is the number one,” she also added.

Deepika recently featured on the cover of Time Magazine as a ‘global star’. She spoke about her relationship with Ranveer Singh and India’s representation at the Oscars.

The actor was last seen in Pathaan, alongside Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. She will be seen next in Jawan where she appears in a cameo role. She has Project K with Prabhas and Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter lined up in the pipeline.
