Deepak Hooda quits Baroda for Rajasthan | Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: All-rounder Deepak Hooda has quit Baroda ahead of the forthcoming domestic season. He is likely to play for Rajasthan this time.
Hooda, who plays for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL, has obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Baroda Cricket Association (BCA).
“He had asked for an NOC a couple of days back, and we issued an NOC to him yesterday. It is sad that he had to leave Baroda. We could’ve prevented this. I think the whole issue (of Hooda and Krunal) could have been handled in a better way,” BCA secretary Lele told TOI on Thursday.
A talented middle-order batsman, Hooda was banned for the rest of the season by BCA after he walked out of the team’s bio-bubble following an ugly spat with Baroda captain and India’s limited overs allrounder Krunal Pandya in January, before the start of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
“How many cricket associations will lose out on a player who is in the Indian team probables list? Deepak Hooda leaving baroda cricket is a huge loss. He could have easily given his services for another ten years as he is still young. As a Barodian It’s utterly disappointing!,” tweeted former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who had captained Baroda.
Hooda made his first-class debut for Baroda in 2013. He has so far played 46 first-class matches, in which he scored 2908 runs at a healthy average of 43. He also featured in 68 List-A matches, along with 131 T20s. In 2017, he was included in the India squad for the limited-overs series at home against Sri Lanka, though he couldn’t get a game.
