Famous American country music star and songwriter Morgan Wallen has canceled six weeks of concerts on his “One Night at a Time” world tour due to ongoing medical complications.

Morgan Wallen performs on the first night of the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Festival, on Sept. 23, 2022, in Las Vegas. Thousands of country music fans were awaiting the singer when he suddenly canceled his performance Sunday night, April 23, 2023, at Vaught Hemingway Stadium. WTVA-TV reported that video boards inside the Ole Miss football stadium showed a message that said the singer had lost his voice and was unable to perform, adding that people would be refunded their money where they bought their tickets. Wallen took to Instagram on May 9th to share the news with his fans, revealing that his doctors had advised him to go on ‘vocal rest’ for six weeks after he damaged his vocal cords and was diagnosed with vocal fold trauma. He also disclosed that he tore his lat muscle while in Australia but had been working through it quietly until now.

“They told me that if I do this the right way, I’ll get back to 100 percent, and they also said that if I don’t listen and I keep singing, then I’ll permanently damage my voice,” the ‘Last Night’ singer explained in his video message to fans. “So for the longevity of my career, this is just a choice I had to make.”

While the ‘Everything I Love’ performer is disappointed to be missing out on 14 already scheduled shows, he is taking his time to focus on his healing and reschedule the performances he’ll be missing.

According to the New York Times, Wallen is expected to be back on the stage starting with his June 22 performance at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.

Unfortunately, one of the shows that the country singer had to cancel is his scheduled performance at the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 11, where he holds a nomination for Entertainer of the Year.

The Sneedville native clarified, “After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor, and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better,” added, “I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing.”

The musician’s latest health update comes just weeks after he faced fan backlash for canceling a show in Mississippi minutes before he was set to rock the stage. One concertgoer even filed a lawsuit against Wallen, alleging that she had not been issued her money back despite the venue offering a full refund.

However, Wallen’s representative confirmed to the media that refunds were issued by the venue, and the lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice. The ‘Your Proof’ singer has been open with his fans about his struggles with his health and vocal cords, and has emphasized the importance of taking time off to heal and prevent permanent damage to his voice.

“I’m really sorry for any inconvenience this causes for anyone out there that was coming to the shows and was planning on it,” the 29-year-old said in his video message. “But I’m gonna do everything I can to get back out there and see you guys as soon as possible.”
