The Covid-19 death toll has climbed to 4,43,928 with 431 new fatalities. The number of active cases in the country has dropped to 3,42,923, and now comprises 1.03% of India’s total infections, the health ministry said.
According to weekly analysis of Covid-19 cases, except four, all states/UTs have seen a decline in their seven-day average of cases. Kerala, which has been contributing the most (60-70%) to India’s Covid-19 tally for the past few weeks, has seen a sharp decline in this seven-day average; from 27,673 on September 8, it has dropped to 20,079 on Wednesday. In Maharashtra, the second-biggest contributor, the average fell to 3,589 for 4,077 a week ago.
As the Covid-19 situation continues to improve in India, the Delhi government on Wednesday allowed public fairs and exhibitions from today in the city. However, the West Bengal government has extended Covid restrictions till September 30 ahead of the festivals in order to check the Covid-19 spread.
