Satwik and Chirag’s remarkable run in the Korea Open saw them gain a spot in the rankings, displacing the Chinese pair of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, whom they defeated in the semi-finals.
The duo’s outstanding performances have secured them a new career-high ranking in the men’s doubles circuit.The reigning Asian champions have been in formidable form this season, clinching titles at the Korea Open (Super 500), Swiss Open (Super 300), and Indonesia Open (Super 1000). Their recent victory at the Korea Open saw them rally from a game down to overcome the world number one pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhamad Rian Ardianto in a thrilling final.
Remarkably, Chirag and Satwik have been unstoppable in finals this season, boasting an impressive 10-match unbeaten streak on the BWF World Tour. Their success in recent tournaments has elevated their ranking points to 87,211.
On the women’s side, PV Sindhu, the two-time Olympic medallist, managed to maintain her 17th spot in the singles list despite an early exit from the Korea Open. However, Saina Nehwal, the London Olympics bronze medallist, has dropped one spot and now occupies the 37th position.
In men’s singles, HS Prannoy continues to be India’s top-ranked shuttler, maintaining the 10th spot in the rankings, with Denmark’s Victor Axelsen leading the chart. Lakshya Sen, who secured victory at the Canada Open, has slipped one place to become the world number 13 after missing the Korea Open. Kidambi Srikanth, facing a challenging period with form, retains his position at 20th.
