ChatGPT gets plugin support, here’s what it means – Times of India

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has announced plugin support for its popular AI chatbot. The OpenAI plugins connect ChatGPT to third-party applications. These plugins enable ChatGPT to interact with APIs defined by developers, enhancing ChatGPT’s capabilities and allowing it to perform a wide range of actions. The company has now started rolling out ChatGPT plugins to travel websites Expedia and Kayak.
The plugins for Expedia and Kayak will allow travellers to talk to ChatGPT and obtain travel information from the websites. Initially, the ChatGPT plugins will be available only to ChatGPT Plus users and will be gradually rolled out to the other users in the coming weeks.
“With our new AI Plugin, a traveler can start a conversation with #ChatGPT to plan their next trip–complete with access to up-to-date information on the availability & price of flights, hotels, vacation rentals, activities, & car rentals across the world,” tweeted Expedia.

“ChatGPT will act as a virtual travel assistant, allowing for more conversational interactions with KAYAK’s search engine. Users can head to ChatGPT and ask it questions in the same way they would ask a human. Overall, our integration represents a step forward in the world of travel search. By leveraging AI technology to provide more personalized and intuitive search experiences, we’re making it easier than ever for travellers to plan their dream vacations,” mentioned Kayak.
ChatGPT faced major outage
Recently, ChatGPT suffered a major outage for almost a day. ChatGPT users complained that they were unable to get the chatbot’s assistance in writing and coding. Furthermore, the issue affected ChatGPT on the web and both free and subscribers of ChatGPT Plus were hit. About two hours after acknowledgement, OpenAI said that they have identified the root cause of the issue “and are working on a resolution”, however, it did not list what caused the problem.
