There are so many kitchen appliances that make cooking easier for us. Be it the humble toaster or air fryer, these devices are now a part and parcel of our daily lives. One kitchen gadget that we regularly underestimate is the microwave. Not many of us realise that it is actually possible to cook dishes entirely from scratch using the heat from our microwaves. Take Pani puri, for instance. Also known as puchka or golgappa, street food is popular among Indians all over the world. Recently, a blogger shared a quick and easy hack on how to make pani puri in a microwave.

The video was shared on Instagram by user @drchintalskitchen. “If Pani Puri Friday isn’t a thing then it really should be because I can’t think of anything better to end the week, especially as pani puri just got a whole lot easier – 35 seconds in the microwave,” she wrote in the caption. The clip of the pani puri hack has gone viral, receiving over 4.5 million views and 81.5k likes.

In the caption, the blogger explained the process of making pani puri in a microwave. It was a quite simple technique that required just a couple of minutes. Rather than deep-frying in oil, all you need are 30 pani puri discs and a microwave. These discs are readily available in the market.

Take a look at the method she shared:

  1. Spread out the pani puri discus 10 at a time on a microwaveable plate. Don’t overlap any.
  2. Set the microwave on high for about 35-40 seconds. This will vary depending on your microwave so do 30 seconds first and then 5-10 seconds at a time more until they are perfectly fluffed up!
  3. Allow to cool and set before filling. Expert tip – heat the empty plate in the microwave first before adding the puri for even better results.

How simple right? The viral video received thousands of reactions and comments from users. “Oh my god, I tried it and it worked,” wrote one user in the comments section while another said, “It worked! And my mom can’t believe this. Thank you for sharing!”
