While there are some preconceived notions as to how Valentine’s Day should be celebrated, those concepts are changing. People typically exchange cards, flowers, chocolates, or other gifts as tokens of their love for one another. However, Indian Gen-Z and Millennials have some other ideas for this day.

Valentine’s Day Dates Will Be Budget-Friendly

As per the survey by QuackQuack, 47% of daters prefer to have a budget-friendly Valentine’s Day date over fancy dining and pricey gifts. The gen-z, especially those below the age of 23, disclosed that they have a pact with the dates to exchange practical and meaningful gifts instead of something that will burn a hole in their pockets.

While Valentine’s Day is all about finding love and companionship, people are going above and beyond that. Many are looking to find friends and connections beyond romantic relationships.

As per the survey, “37% of the survey participants between 25 and 30, primarily working professionals in 9 to 5 jobs, mentioned beating their loneliness by participating in the communication. This is basically when people try to find friends and platonic relationships. 33% of people want genuine companionship this time of the year.

Rebounds are On The Rise

Being single and alone at this time of the year can bring out many feelings. One of those feelings could include going back to an ex who you never thought you would ever contact. The survey did say that this was the case for many millennials.

11% of male daters over 25 and 18% below 23 years old from tier 1 and 2 cities disclosed rounding back to their old matches on this day. More than 15% of women over 28 revealed rebounding with their ex on the day of love.

The importance of self-love

While many may feel lonely or want to spend time with their significant other this Valentine’s Day, people have realized the importance of self-care and self-love. Gen Z single daters have found several different ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day without falling off the wagon.

28% of the survey participants between 18 and 23 mentioned having a fun night planned with friends. 12% of women daters from Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities are planning Galentine’s Day instead of wallowing in self-pity.

Even though Valentine’s Day is primarily celebrated as a day of romance and affection between intimate companions, it can also be a celebration of love and appreciation between friends, family members, and others.
