Imagine waking up to the news that American businessman Bill Gates is making khichdi. Can’t believe it, right? But, let us tell you it did happen and for guidance, he was accompanied by Union Minister Smriti Irani. Bill Gates’ trip to India comes under the country’s initiative of the G20 Presidency. In recent events, the Microsoft founder joined Smriti Irani on “empowerment through the nourishment campaign.” Following this, the duo prepared the quintessential comfort food of Indians, khichdi, and even highlighted its nutritional value. Classic old-school khichdi has been a staple for us for many eras now.

Smriti Irani tweeted a video, which featured Bill Gates giving “tadka to Shree Ann Khichdi!” Of course, it wasn’t easy for him. Therefore, the union minister guided the Microsoft founder throughout. Once the “tadka” was ready, Smriti Irani poured it into a pot filled with millet khichdi, and Bill Gates gave it a nice stir. Oh, wait. There is more. Bill Gates also relished a small portion of this comfort food. “Recognising the Super Food of India and its POSHAN component… When Bill Gates gave tadka to Shree Ann Khichdi!” Smriti Irani captioned the post.

The one-minute clip, shared on March 2, has so far clocked over 1 lakh views on the microblogging site and tons of reactions from Twitteratis. People were impressed by the humble and grounded nature of both Bill Gates and Smriti Irani.

One of them wrote, “Finally added the flavour to Khichdi. Khichdi is all about the final step of tadka. How humble of our union minister Mrs Smriti Z Irani and World’s Business Icon Mr. Bill Gates to be so grounded and nailed the tadka for a perfect Kichidi.”

Another said, “This is great … India has untapped potential in its traditional vegetarian meals .. it should be projected to the world.”

“This khichdi is not only for Microsoft people, the glow of this khichdi is visible in the world. Great,” a user tweeted.

Some even joked that Bill Gates would make khichdi “mandatory for Microsoft employees.”

“Alu bhurta bhi taste karna tha sath me (Along with khichdi, you should have also made him taste aloo bharta),” read a tweet.
