Former Bigg Boss 15 contestant Vishal Kotian has spoken about calling Tejasswi Prakash ‘maal (item)’ when he was inside the house. In a new interview, Vishal said that when he had used the term everyone had laughed and even Tejasswi didn’t raise an objection. He also said that words are not as important as intentions.
Vishal Kotian had previously also called Shamita Shetty and Neha Bhasin ‘maal’. Tejasswi Prakash had then slammed him for ‘objectifying a girl’. She had said that he shouldn’t use the term.
After his exit from the Bigg Boss 15 house, Vishal Kotian told RJ Siddharth Kannan said in Hindi, “When Maniesh Paul had come inside the house, he had shown a picture where I, Tejasswi and Jay (Bhanushali) were sitting together. He had asked, ‘Tell me what Jai is thinking?’ I said, ‘I don’t know about Jai but I can tell you what I’m thinking. How can he look the other way with a maal ladki (hot girl) sitting next to him?’ Everyone had laughed then, even Teja (Tejasswi), when it happened in the second week. If there was a problem with the word why did they not pick on it then? The thing is they think that this week he’s quite strong so let’s pick on his words and overlook his intention. This is how my language is.”
He continued, “The intention is more important to me than words. If words were more important then I would have never danced to Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast (from Mohra featuring Akshay Kumar-Raveena Tandon). We drink and dance to this song. No one then objects to a girl being called ‘cheez’ and ‘mast’. Agar mudda banana ho toh kisi baat pe banaya jaay. Aur dimaag na ho toh baaton se chodkar shabdon ko pakadkad mudda banaya jaay, yehi is ghar ka reet hai (If a topic has to be created then it can be done based on a conversation. And when one doesn’t have brains, then they make an issue based on words, this is the rule of this house). I don’t care.”

Last month, Tejasswi had pulled up Vishal over hi remark. DNA India had quoted her as saying, “You can’t call me a maal. It is not the right word. You can’t objectify a girl. Don’t say that. It is extremely objectifying a girl. I am telling you both very politely, don’t say that word, it will take me only a second to lose it. Don’t justify.”
