Bhumi Pednekar And Akshay Kumar Win PETA’s Vegetarian Award For 2021

In the post-COVID era, turning vegetarian is becoming a popular choice. People are increasingly giving up meat, and some are even switching to a completely plant-based diet. To encourage vegetarianism among individuals, PETA India awards two celebrities for being the most beautiful vegetarians of the year. In this year’s edition of the award, actors Bhumi Pednekar and Akshay Kumar have been named as the most beautiful vegetarians of 2021. The news was shared on Twitter and soon created a buzz on the platform. Actress Bhumi Pednekar took to Twitter as well to thank PETA India for the award. Take a look:

PETA recognised both Bhumi Pednekar and Akshay Kumar’s efforts and presented them with the award. Past winners of this title include Anushka Sharma, Kartik Aaryan, Manushi Chhillar, Sunil Chhetri, Shraddha Kapoor and Sonu Sood.

Bhumi Pednekar had announced her decision to turn vegetarian in mid-2020. Her journey as a climate warrior taught her a lot which is why she decided to do her bit for other species and give up meat. “Eating meat just didn’t feel right,” she wrote on Instagram. “I took a decision in lockdown and did what I was contemplating to do now and one day I announced to the fam, that I’m giving up non-vegetarian food. Today it’s been a few months and I feel good, guilt-free and physically strong,” she added.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is probably one of the fittest celebrities in Bollywood and he relies on a vegetarian diet to keep him in shape. He is also a self-confessed animal lover and regularly shares posts condemning animal cruelty.

Interestingly, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar will be seen in the film ‘Raksha Bandhan’ together. They have also previously worked together in the movie ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.
