Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon’s film Bhediya showed a decent growth on Saturday after a lukewarm opening on Friday. Bhediya is a horror-comedy that follows Bhaskar (Varun Dhawan), who transforms into a werewolf on every full moon night after being bitten by a mythical wolf. The film also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Abhishek Banerjee and Paalin Kabak. Shraddha Kapoor also has a cameo in the film. It is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and Jio Studios.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collections of the film on Twitter. He wrote, “Bhediya gathers speed on day 2… slowly and steadily, the film is finding its share of audience… national chains witness an upward trend, while mass pockets improve… day 3 (is) crucial, needs to show big gains… Friday 7.48 crore, Saturday 9.57 crore. Total: 17.05 crore. India biz (business).”

The producers of the film said Bhediya collected 14.60 cr gross worldwide on day 2. According to them, it had collected 12.06 crore gross worldwide on Friday and went on to show 28 percent growth on day 2.

The Hindustan Times review of the film says Bhediya is as good as Stree. An excerpt of it read, “From good comedy and a novel concept to VFX, strong screenplay, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starrer Bhediya gives ample moments to laugh and howl throughout…”

Bhediya is the third offering in Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe after Stree (2018) and Roohi (2020). Amar Kaushik said he did not seek any inspiration from Hollywood to create the world of Bhediya. “It is not that we have looked at Hollywood and made this. The writers had a seed of an idea about animals and then we kept improving. We wanted to make something that is of international standard, we took all the support to make it,” he had recently told PTI.
