Bengaluru FC blank Jamshedpur 2-0 to enter Super Cup final | Football News – Times of India
They will now take on the winners of the second semifinal between NorthEast United FC and Odisha FC that will be played at Payyanad Stadium, Manjeri on Saturday.
BFC didn’t have a great first half as Jamshedpur enjoyed more ball possession and dominated the proceedings.
Jamshedpur came close to scoring twice in the half but Daniel Chukwu and Boris Singh wasted the chances they got.
BFC coach Simon Grayson made a double substitution in the 59th minute, replacing Rohit Kumar and Udanta Singh with Pablo Perez and Siva Sakthi.
The move did wonders for BFC as they started to find holes in the Jamshedpur defence.
Jayesh Rane broke the deadlock in the 67th minute. A Siva Sakthi cross from the right got deflected off Jamshedpur centre-back Eli Filho and fell to Rane. The forward repositioned his body and headed the ball past goalkeeper TP Rehenesh to put BFC 1-0 ahead.
Four minutes later, BFC should have doubled their lead. But a wonderful save from Rehenesh denied Roy Krishna.
However, with seven minutes left on the clock, Sunil Chhetri put the match beyond Jamshedpur. Siva found Roy Krishna with a good through ball in the centre of the pitch.
Krishna made a good run and took a shot on goal after entering the box which was blocked by Rehenesh.
But the goalkeeper couldn’t hold on to the ball and Krishna collected the rebound and headed the ball to Chhetri. The striker did not waste the opportunity as he slammed the ball into the net from close range to seal BFC a spot in the final.
