BCD Travel has named World Travel Service president David
Mitchell as president of its midmarket-focused travel management companies, a
new position, according to the company.
As president of BCD Travel Midmarket in North America,
Mitchell will oversee not only WTS—where he will continue as president—but also
Acendas Travel, in which BCD
acquired a majority stake in 2017, and Adelman Travel Group, which BCD
acquired in 2019.
BCD in a statement indicated it would continue “the
evaluation and potential acquisition of additional midmarket TMCs and
technology companies.”
“The small- to medium-sized corporate travel segment is
rebounding faster than the large market, which is what we anticipated and is
why BCD is further investing in its midmarket strategy,” Mitchell said in
a statement. “Acendas, Adelman and World Travel Service each have an
individual identity and culture, tailoring their solutions to the specific and
niche needs of their customers. That’s why it’s important to maintain and grow
these distinctive brands.”
Acendas president Brent Blake and Adelman president and COO
Jason Horstman will report to Mitchell, who BCD said would “work with both
leaders to fine-tune the future direction of the three companies.”
Mitchell joined WTS in 2020. He has served as SVP of supplier
relations in the Americas for BCD and as a Delta Air Lines sales executive in
his 36-year career.
