Facing a Wimbledon ban, Daniil Medvedev decided to try his hand in golf on Monday with former Germany football captain Bastian Schweinsteiger. The world number one tennis star took to social media platform Instagram to share some photos from his session with Schweinsteiger and the duo seemed to be in a cheerful mood together. The Russian also captioned the photos as, “Can’t leave grass Fun day with @bastianschweinsteiger”.

The photos were well-received by fans, who hailed the duo. Meanwhile, Schweinsteiger also reacted to the post and wrote, “That was fun! Good game, my friend. Hope your thumb is cured completely by now @medwed33”.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner also posted a photo from the session and also revealed that it was Medvedev’s ‘first time on the golf course’. Posting it on Instagram, he captioned it as, “Preparing Daniil for his next World No 1 – not bad for the 1st time on the golf course but next time I will bring more golf balls and tees @medwed33”.

Medvedev is missing from this year’s Wimbledon after organisers banned players from Russia and Belarus due to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. He has won a total of 13 ATP Tour singles titles including the 2021 US Open. Known to be a counter-puncher, he is known for his flat and long groundstrokes and also for dragging lengthy baseline rallies.
