  • Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim will resume their 204-run stand on 113 and 82, respectively
  • Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Faheem Ashraf and Said Khan had reduced Bangladesh to 49 for 4

Bangladesh dictated terms on Day 1 of the first Test against Pakistan on Friday thanks to the unbroken partnership between the experienced Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim in Chattorgam.

Liton Das brought up his maiden Test hundred while Mushfiqur scored his 24th fifty as Bangladesh reached 253 for 4 in 85 overs by stumps.

Das and Mushfiqur will resume their innings on 113 and 82, respectively, on Sunday.

The duo bailed the hosts out of trouble after they were reduced to 49 for 4 thanks to the opening bursts from Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Faheem Ashraf and Sajid Khan, all of whom took a wicket each to dismantle Bangladesh’s top-order.

Das and Mushfiqur then joined forces to weather the early storm before settling into their fifth-wicket partnership, which yielded 204 runs till the close of play as Pakistan failed to take a wicket in 2.5 sessions.

This was only the sixth instance when a batting pair managed to put on a 200-run stand with the team being four down for less than 50 runs.
