Ecstatic fans in India had actor Farhan Akhtar in a spot, as he got the gender of the winning team wrong! “Go Girls!!! So proud of #teamIndia for showing exemplary fighting spirit and bringing in our 4th medal…super stuff. #Tokyo2020 #Hockey,” he apparently posted in now-deleted tweet. He later corrected his post, “So proud of #teamIndia for showing exemplary fighting spirit and bringing in our 4th medal .. super stuff.” But the screenshot of the deleted tweet went viral, leading to cheeky comments and memes.“Is he planning to do the protagonist’s role in #ranirampal’s biopic!,” a user tweeted.
With a total of nine goals scored and India winning 5-4, it was indeed a high-voltage affair. The game was open till the very last seconds, as India conceded a penalty corner six seconds from time. Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh emerged as the last-second saviour, getting India its long-awaited win. The whole nation is proud of the team and social media was filled with congratulatory messages. Bollywood celebs were not behind, as they expressed their joy. While Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Bhumi Pednekar, Tiger Shroff and Sidharath Malhotra took to their Instagram Stories, others posted congratulatory messages on Twitter.
