Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul are married now, confirms Suniel Shetty; actor distributes sweets to media after wedding

Actor Suniel Shetty has confirmed that her daughter-actor Athiya Shetty tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, cricketer KL Rahul on Monday in an intimate ceremony. In the evening, Suniel and his son, Ahan Shetty stepped out of the wedding venue to distribute sweets to the media stationed outside the location.

Suniel also said that he is ‘officially a father-in-law’ now. Speaking to the media persons, he described the wedding as, “Very beautiful, small, very close family event.” “Bohot acha raha aur abhi phere bhi ho gaye hain. Abhi shaadi officially ho chuki hain toh officially father-in-law bhi ban chukka hoon (Wedding was very good, pheras are done now, so the wedding is officially done and I am officially a father-in-law). ” The wedding took place at Suniel’s farmhouse in Khandala.

Meanwhile, guests were snapped arriving at the wedding venue in cars. Celebrities such as Diana Penty, Krishna Shroff and Anshula Kapoor among others were seen in all-white outfits. Videos and photos are doing rounds on the internet, as shared by paparazzi accounts.

An insider earlier told Hindustan Times, “It is an extremely close-knit family affair. Only friends and family members will be a part of the wedding. It’s most likely that you may not see many industry peeps.” The couple has also placed a no-phone policy for their guests, owing to their privacy.

Athiya and KL Rahul had been dating for a few years until they went public. While they never spoke about each other publicly, the two kept dropping hints on social media. They finally made it Insta official with a birthday post. It was followed by a red carpet appearance where they made their relationship public at the screening of her brother Ahaan Shetty’s debut film, Tadap. Rahul and Athiya were also joined by Athiya’s parents–Suniel Shetty and Mana Shetty who share a good bond with Rahul, at the red carpet event.

Athiya and KL Rahul are likely to soon make their public appearance any time now, as husband and wife. Earlier, Suniel recently talked to the paparazzi about the same and assured media that the bride and groom will pose for pictures after the ceremony. A Day ahead of the wedding, he had said, “Main kal leke aata hoon bachhon ko. Aapne jo pyaar dikhaya uske liye bohot bohot thank you (I will bring the kids tomorrow, Thank you for showing so much love).”

Athiya, Suniel’s daughter, made her acting debut with the romantic action film Hero in 2015. She was last seen in Motichoor Chaknachoor (2019).
