When the iPhone 13 arrived, the majority of the units were ‘Made in China’ at Foxconn as Apple’s India manufacturing unit was still lagging by a quarter. However, things are expected to change this year as Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo as per whom, Apple is gearing up to produce the iPhone 14 series across both of its India and China simultaneously.

According to the reports, Apple will be manufacturing iPhone 6.1” both in China and India simultaneously. It is expected that by 2H22, India’s manufacturing unit will reach the production capacity of China’s Foxconn unit. For context, India was lagging behind China by a quarter in terms of production capacity in the fast.

Apple iPhone 14 production to break records in India

To further elaborate, the Indian manufacturing unit has been lagging behind that of China’s. Although Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2018 with iPhone SE and continued for iPhone X, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE2.

Usually, when Apple launches new iPhones, it comes with a Made in China tag during the launch. This is followed by ‘Made in India’ iPhones given the fact that the Indian unit usually lags. However, it is expected that there will be a point this year when Apple’s Indian unit will reach the same production capacity as that of China’s one. Apparently, this is why you will be able to spot Made in India iPhones right after the launch sometime in September this year.
