apple watch: Watch: Apple Watch Series 7 gets the teardown treatment – Times of India

0
Teardown specialist iFixit has gone for another teardown of an Apple product. This time, it is the Apple Watch Series 7, which the iFixit team dismantled with some help from former Apple engineers who have worked on previous iterations of the Apple Watch.
As per the report, the Watch Series 6 display had two prominent flex cable folds—one in black at the top, for the touch sensor layer, and a second in green at the bottom, for the OLED panel itself. But with the Watch Series 7, there is just one flex, at the bottom.
Some of the other key findings upon opening the Apple Watch Series 7 physically include changes from using two cables for touch and display signals into one and that the battery of the Apple Watch Series 6 can run the Series 7 too. Apple has also removed the diagnostic port from Watch Series 7, a port that had been present below the battery of the Apple Watch generations, and replaced it with its “high-frequency wireless interface”.
In a video, iFixit showcased its findings, with the help of Tobias, an ex-Apple engineer.

The Watch Series 7 was delayed and as per the findings of iFixit, “the most likely culprit, by far, is manufacturing hiccups with this new display; screens have some of the most complex supply chains and assembly processes in the industry. The introduction of this new technology, combined with pushing the limits of the border design, likely caused delays in shipping the Series 7 to market.”
The batteries of the new Apple Watch Series 7 models are also bigger than the Series 6, “with slightly wider dimensions than last year, with slightly higher capacity and energy density” in both 41mm and 45mm form factors.
