Apple iPhones may finally get this wallpaper that Steve Jobs showed in the first iPhone – Times of India
First shown in 2007 during the launch of the original iPhone, the Clownfish wallpaper never actually made it to Apple phones until now. The wallpaper has finally made its way to iPhones via the latest developer beta of iOS 16.
Apple’s tribute to the first iPhone and Steve Jobs
The wallpaper was shown on stage by Steve Jobs and was even shown in the first television advertisement for the iPhone, but it never made it to the retail units. But here we are after 15 years. We can consider this a homage to the late Steve Jobs – who introduced the first-ever iPhone to the world.
Twitter user Jack Roberts first spotted the wallpaper on July 6 – the day iOS 16 developer beta 3 was released, and later Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman retweeted, saying, “Some users appear to be seeing a new Clownfish wallpaper in iOS 16 beta 3.” We checked and found the wallpaper under the Collections section in the Wallpaper option.
However, it could take a while before it reaches you, even if you are on the developer build. Also, we are not sure if it ever comes to the iOS 16 public build.
The newer Clownfish wallpaper is now enhanced and has a higher resolution compared to the one Steve Jobs showed in the year 2007. Also, there’s a swipe-up parallax animation, first spotted by Reddit user ActorVMU.
Nostalgia aside, the latest developer build of iOS 16 also brought a totally new feature – the lockdown mode – which, as the name suggests, locks down some of the features to prevent users from any security or privacy threat. You can read more about this new iOS 16 feature here.
