Apple iPhone 15 series to get bumped up RAM & chipset – Smartprix
We have seen flagships from Samsung and OnePlus make their global launch. Releasing this fall, Apple iPhone 15 series launch is still highly anticipated with people waiting to see what Apple will do next. As per the latest reports, iPhone 15 series could get as much as 8GB of RAM onboard instead of 6GB as usual.
Referring to a report from a South Korean publication TrendForce, the iPhone 15 series will enjoy higher RAM and a boost in performance although the specifics remain unavailable.
At the moment, all four flagship models under iPhone 12 series have 6GB RAM. The non-Pro variants are packed with Apple A15 Bionic while the Pro variants get the Apple A16 Bionic chipset onboard. As per the source, Apple will boost the RAM storage from 6GB to 8GB on the Pro variants i.e. iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. We could see the same happening with iPhone 15 Ultra in case the rumored high-end model materializes.
The report further states iPhone 15 and 15 Plus (since mini may not exist( will get an improved LPDDR5 RAM although both will stick to 6GB RAM as usual. Magic happens on the Pro side where both the models are likely to get their hands on a faster RAM, probably LPDDRX, and with a higher capacity of 8GB.
For those who might question how higher RAM would help, it would improve the overall performance, and give iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max an edge over the non-Pro variants thanks to bumped-up specs. It will also be packed in an alleged Apple A17 Bionic that will translate into better performance anyways. Note that Apple iPhone 15/15 Plus will stick to Apple A16 Bionic from the iPhone 14 Pro series as per what we believe thanks to countless rumors around it.
Recently, a CAD-based render for the Apple iPhone 15 Pro series appears on the internet showing off its titanium mid-frame and the USB-C port. You can read the story here.
