It’s been an exciting year in iPhone launches. I say this, as the company decided to use the same silicone for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models. That said, the Cupertino giant did bring a newer A16 Bionic SoC for its pro models and the iPhone 14 Pro, as well as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, are backed by the brand’s fastest chipset. It goes without saying that the chipset should be able to run demanding games and handle taxing workloads without breaking a sweat. That said, it remains unseen whether it can outperform competing Android phones backed by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. To that note, we recently pit the iPhone 14 Pro Max against the iPhone 13 (review) and the 8+ Gen 1 powered OnePlus 10T (review) in a series of benchmark tests and the results are surprising, to say the least.
To wit, while the OnePlus 10T scored a commanding lead in the Antutu benchmark owing to its higher GPU score, Apple’s flagships managed to overturn better results in GeekBench’s single and multi-core tests. Furthermore, the OnePlus 10T was more adept at thermal throttling too and unlike the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPhone 13, the device crashed before completing 3DMark’s Extreme Stress Test.
