Those who have already updated their device to the latest developer beta will receive developer beta 2 through over-the-air update. Interested users can access the latest software through the Apple Developer Program to install developer betas of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, and watchOS 10.
It is generally not recommended to install the beta build on your primary device due to the bugs and issues that it may contain. If you prefer to avoid any inconvenience, you can wait until September when the stable build of iOS 17 is anticipated to be released for everyone.
What’s new in the developer beta of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, and watchOS 10
The second developer beta fixes some of the commonly faced issues that beta testers have reported while adding some new features that were announced during the keynote but were not there in the first beta.
iOS 17, Apple’s new mobile operating system, has several small improvements, including customizable call screens, live voicemail, improved SharePlay, a sticker creation option, and a new safety feature in Messages. Siri no longer requires “Hey Siri” to activate, and standby mode turns the iPhone into a smart display.
Moreover, the update offers new functionalities to support physical and mental health, such as the ability for the Apple Watch to link with Bluetooth-enabled cycling accessories to track cycling power measured in watts and cadence measured in RPM.
The update also introduces interactive widgets, a customisable lock screen, revamped Notes app with PDF support, and more.
The new macOS update brings widgets from iPhones to Macs, and the new Game Mode and Game Porting Toolkit make it easier for developers to bring games to macOS.
The latest tvOS update, version 17, includes a revamped Control Center that presents important information at a glance and a feature that allows users to locate their Siri remote using their iPhone.
