apple: Apple may put a ‘bigger’ camera in iPhone 14 Pro – Times of India

For a few years now, Apple has refused to be part of the megapixel race that most other smartphone makers have become a part of. Samsung, Xiaomi, others have phones that have cameras with 108 megapixels while OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo all have 64MP or 48MP cameras. Apple has stuck with giving 12MP cameras in the iPhone. However, this might soon change if noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is to be believed.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, Kuo has suggested that the iPhone 14 series could have a 48MP camera. Not only will this be the ‘biggest’ sensor Apple would put in an iPhone but also increase the camera bump on the rear of the device. Taking to Twitter, Kuo explained the increase in the size of the camera bump. “The main reason for the larger and more prominent rear-camera bump of the 14 Pro/Pro Max is upgrading the wide camera to 48MP (vs. 13 Pro/Pro Max’s 12MP). The diagonal length of 48MP CIS will increase by 25-35%, and the height of 48MP’s 7P lens will increase by 5-10%,” he tweeted. Kuo’s tweet also suggests that the 48MP lens could come to the iPhone 14 Pro series and not the ‘vanilla’ iPhone 14 series.
We are still about six months away from the expected launch of the iPhone 14 series and rumours have started gaining momentum. However, before that Apple is set to host WWDC — its annual developer conference — sometime in June. While the company hasn’t sent out official invites, a tipster has suggested that WWDC 2022 could kick off on June 6. Tipster Jon Prosser has claimed that WWDC 2022 could also be the first in-person event Apple hosts in more than two years. However, Apple hasn’t said anything about the launch date or whether it will be a virtual or in-person event.
