apple: Apple may end support for these iPhones in 2022 with iOS 16 update – Times of India
With almost every new iOS and iPadOS update, Apple drops support for older iPhones and iPads. With iOS 14, Apple dropped support for iPhone 5s, iOS 15 dropped support for iPhone 6. Similarly, the iPad OS 14 dropped support from iPad mini (3rd-generation), iPad Air (1st-generation) and others.
As per a new leak that surfaced online, Apple is likely to drop support from a list of older iPhones and iPads which includes iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (1st-generation), iPad mini 4, iPad Pro (2015) and iPad Air 2 and iPad (5th-generation).
The report also claims that Apple will make the announcement at its next WWDC conference, where the company is expected to announce the iOS 16 and iPad OS 16 operating systems.
The latter shouldn’t come as a surprise as Apple usually announces its new operating systems at WWDC conferences showcasing all the new features and changes to the OS.
If the rumours are considered true, the iOS 16 will also drop support for the Apple A9 chip altogether considering all the iPhones and iPads on the list were launched before 2016 and run on Apple A9 chip or older.
