WhatsApp audio chat feature: How it may work
WhatsApp hasn’t officially confirmed when this feature will be rolled out or how it will work. However, the report includes screenshots which explains how this upcoming WhatsApp feature may work on Android devices.
Once this feature is rolled out, a new waveforms icon will be added to the chat header. This will allows users to initiate audio chats. As per the screenshots, WhatsApp will show a red button for ending ongoing calls.
Some additional space will also be available near the button which is expected to be used by the waveform icon. This icon will imply the capability of real-time audio visualisation.

This UI design will offer a minimalistic interface that will allow users to view audio waveforms while navigating between their conversations. The feature is still under development. Only Android beta testers can currently try out the feature.

This new app aims to improve the calling ability on the Windows version of the app. WhatsApp users on Windows can now place group video calls with up to 8 people and audio calls with up to 32 people.
