android: Google reportedly rolling out this new feature for Android Auto users – Times of India
Last year Google announced that it will bring new smart reply options for Android Auto users. As per the tech giant, with the new feature you can respond to a text message more easily with the Google Assistant on Android Auto. Although announced last year, the feature was not available to users till now. However, as per a report by 9to5Google, the company has started to roll out the feature for a few Android Auto users. According to a report, users with the latest beta version of the Android Auto app (7.6.1215) are able to use the new quick reply feature.
How the quick reply feature for Android Auto works
The quick reply feature offers you at least one suggested reply after the Google Assistant reads your message aloud while your phone is connected to Android Auto. The report suggests that the reply options offered to users range in length from from three words down to a single emoji.
The report further reveals that the feature allows you to send the suggested reply through your preferred messaging app. Apart from this, the update also brings a “Custom Reply” option. As per the report, the option allows you to skip the message Google Assistant is reading and reply by voice instead of waiting for suggestions.
Last month, Android Auto also reportedly received a USB Startup Diagnostics tool that can help users to identify bad cables.
To access the USB Startup Diagnostics tool, you need to connect the USB cable with your smartphone and Android Auto. Once paired, the tool checks whether the wire is able to transfer data between the head unit and Android smartphone. If the tool is not able to transfer the data properly, this means that either of the ports is damaged or the cable is incompatible resulting in poor connection with Android Auto in the car.
