Android 12L: Android 12L adds scrolling screenshot support for WebViews – Times of India
Android 12 has finally added native support for scrolling screenshots that allows users to take full screenshots of web pages and documents. However, with Android 12L, this feature gets even better.
It is known that Android 12 is not the first one to introduce scrolling screenshots and it has already been a part of other OEM skins such as MIUI and ColorOS. But everything about Google’s idea of scrolling screenshots is not the same when compared to other skins. Google’s formula is based on Views rather than image stitching.
How is it different?
The View-based implementation has an advantage over the image-stitching technique in terms of speed and reliability. This feature also has drawbacks. This feature loses versatility since it fails to work properly with apps, which don’t have a View-based UI.
Apart from this, it also doesn’t work with WebViews, which is a system component that permits developers to display web pages inside their apps. Android 12L, luckily, addresses this setback.
According to a report by XDA Developers, Android 12L adds scroll capture support for WebViews. Adding this feature means that now it is possible to take full-page screenshots of the content displayed in a WebView. Now, when you take a screenshot on Android 12L, the “capture more” button at the end of the screen will let you take scrolling screenshots. At present, this option is not available on devices running on Android 12.
