Amyra Dastur urges everyone to get vaccinated soon: It’s the only way out of this dark tunnel

As everyone tries to recuperate from the impact of the second wave of Covid-19, vaccination seems to be the only way forward. Doing her bit in creating awareness, actor Amyra Dastur, who battled the virus last year, urges people to understand that vaccination is the need of the hour.

“Please get vaccinated if you get the chance. It is the only way out of this dark tunnel. Until then, please be safe and take care of your family,” she insists.

While the 28-year-old admits that she hasn’t remained unscathed from the effects of the pandemic, she wants everyone to not lose hope and positivity.

“I lost people, too. It’s absolutely devastating because this should have never happened. I know so many people are angry, so am I. But, now is the time to reach out on social media and help as many as you can. Spread verified information, so more loved ones are not lost,” she asserts.

Though things might have started to slowly open up, the actor is currently staying home and not taking any chances.

“I’m living in my apartment, my parents are in theirs. I haven’t been able to meet them for a while. Honestly, I’d rather stay away seeing this wave taking over India. I want them to be safe. I’m definitely anxious and worried about what’s happening,” she shares.

On the work front, Dastur recently shot for a music video in Kashmir, however, she confesses that she couldn’t really focus much on work because of the devastating situation in the country.

“We were there for two days. Everything was shut and locked down. The crew was small and we took all precautions. Even kin Kashmir, all we saw was the state of India through our phones. News about oxygen shortage, no beds, kept blowing up. For the first time, work became inconsequential. All I was thinking about was getting people in touch with one another through my social media handles. I was glued to my phone for the first time in my life,” she explains.

Despite her 2021 schedule going haywire, she prefers to recall how it started on a good note with web series Tandav and the teaser for her Tamil psychological thriller, Bagheera.

“I also got to promote my film Koi Jaane Na which released on April 2 in cinemas, but the same weekend the curfew was imposed followed by a complete lockdown in Maharashtra. It has definitely created a major issue for all industries. All projects have been postponed and I hope we soon get clarity as to when it’ll be safe for us to go out and work,” she concludes.
